Telecom carriers are continuously required to reduce the CAPEX/OPEX because of the expansion of the broadband market. For digital telephone exchanges, deployed in 1982, all the components in the system were
composed of exclusive developed hardware/software, so specific development and maintenance technologies were needed. But to provide low-cost and high-quality communication services, digital exchanges and telephone SIP servers are promoted to reduce both hardware and software cost. For hardware, general CPU and telecom specifications ATCA are adopted. For software, the development and standardization of IROS (Interface for Realtime Operating System)as the standards for telecom systems is moved forward along with the adoption of Linux. NGN
(Next Generation Network) is also needed to adopt general hardware such as IA server, and new technologies such as server virtualization and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization). But with the generalization of hard-
ware/software, the reliability of the system cannot be guaranteed. In our paper, to handle the problem of increase downtime, we discuss how to shorten the restoration period by employing the virtualization technology which flexibly makes the full use of server resources. After explaining our proposal, we introduce the experiment conducted on real machine and the results will be evaluated as well. |
