Theoretical Study on DOA Estimation Error of Moving Object by Using Alternate Transmission MIMO Radar

(in English) The Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Radar can increase the number of receiving elements virtually and improve the Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) estimation accuracy with a small number of actual elements. Strictly speaking, simultaneous transmission for multiple transmitter should be required for the MIMO radar. However, successive transmission is acceptable for stationary or slowly moving targets. This is a quasi-MIMO radar. Since this is a quasi-MIMO system, it causes the DOA estimation error in case of fast moving targets. In general, a slight DOA estimation error deteriorates the estimation accuracy when we detect an object at a long distance. Hence we need to use the pulse repetition interval adequately. In this paper, we investigate DOA estimation error for moving targets in the quasi-MIMO radar. We also derive approximate error formula and consider the necessary parameters for moving target's DOA estimation.
