Headrest ANC System with Virtual Sensing Technique for Factory Noise

(in English) In factory, there are many industrial machines and these machines generate acoustic noise with high sound pressure level. The acoustic noise should be reduced in order to prevent the effects to workers' health. However, passive noise control cannot be applied to the factory due to some constraints. Active noise control (ANC) is suitable for this kind of situations. ANC to factory noise is classified into two approaches: the global control and the local control. In the global control, ANC is implemented into industrial machines which are noise sources, on the other hand, in the local control, ANC is implemented into the workers or their surrounds. In this paper, we focus on the local control for reducing factory noise. In the factory environment, the ANC should be implemented to the headrest of chairs for workers. Since the loudspeakers and microphones are usually arranged in the headrest part, zone of quiet (ZoQ) may not be able to be created around worker's ears because ZoQ is formed around the error microphone and the worker's ears are a bit far from the error microphone location in the headrest ANC. In this case, virtual sensing technique has to be integrated with the headrest ANC because virtual sensing technique can move ZoQ to the desired location. In this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the headrest ANC with virtual sensing technique for factory noise through some experimental results.
