Propagation Analysis by Number of Beams for Horizontal Antenna Pattern -- Base Station Antenna Characteristics by Single Beam or Multi-Beam --

(in English) In this paper, we consider number of horizontal antenna pattern beams and perform propagation analysis in urban or suburban environments by using ray tracing method. We deal with 2 types of horizontal antenna pattern. One is a single beam of 120 degree, and the other is 4 multi-beams by Butler matrix circuit. Then, a base station(BS) height condition is higher or lower than the average building height in the area, and we examine BS antenna characteristics by considering these antennas. Accordingly, in the case of high BS antenna height, directivity of the single beam is more preserved than that of the multi-beam. However, when the BS height becomes lower than the average building height,the directivity preservation tends to deteriorate,
and moreover, the tendency of the preserving each beam of multi-beam is different.
