Multiple Connection of Rectifiers for High Power RF-to-DC Conversion

(in English) In order to convert high-power RF into DC, it is theoretically expected that two or more rectifiers need to be employed in the system. In this case, it is desirable that all the interconnected rectifiers work equally with respect to their handling power. However, one of our prototype experiments finds a problem of serious unbalance between two rectifiers. In this paper, we address this problem. Among the possible factors for this unbalance, we notice that the input impedance of the rectifier used in this experiment is inversely proportional to its load resistance. To overcome this problem, we propose a new connection scheme featuring a quarter-wave transformer, which makes the input impedance directly proportional. We measure the power balance ratio of the proposed scheme. As a result, we confirm that the unbalance problem is successfully solved, and the conversion output power reaches 500 W at 13.56 MHz with two rectifiers.
