It is known that walking is synchronized in adults with typical development(TD), but studies on adults with autism spectrum disorder(ASD) and children are lacking. In this study, we clarified that the degree of synchronization is low in children with ASD. Experiments were conducted on children with ASD, with TD and adults with TD. When people presented rhythms to imitate, children with ASD had a large difference in tempo of walking with the model as compared to children with TD. On the other hand, when presenting the imitating rhythm with the metronome, the children with ASD had a smaller difference between tempo presented and walking tempo compared to children with TD. It was difficult for synchronization of social stimuli (movement of others) in children with ASD, but for physical stimulus without social elements, it is not different from children with TD. |
