Stochastic Resonance as a Potential Cause for Phantom Noise in Autism Spectrum Disorder

(in English) Our previous experiments found that some people with ASD suffer from phantom noise in both visual and auditory perception. We proposed a hypothesis that the atypical stochastic resonance might induce phantom noise and verified it by a creating a computational model. Stochastic resonance normally helps people recognize input signals by emphasizing their structure, but the impaired prediction ability in ASD might make stochastic resonance produce abnormal strong noise. Our current study demonstrates how different parameters of the model affect hyper neural responses in auditory perception.
