Individual representation of large-scale network associated with creative insight

(in English) Creative insight occurs with “Aha!” experience in solving a difficult problem. Here, we focused on a large-scale network associated with insight problem-solving. We conducted an MRI experiment and an insight test battery on 232 participants. We identified correlated regions in right insula, middle cingulate cortex, left cerebellum crus 1 and right supplemental motor area. We applied seed-based RSFC analysis to whole brain voxels by using the seeds obtained from VBM. We found insight-specific connections such as motor-related regions and creative-common connections including default mode network. Our results indicate that creative insight requires coupling of multiple networks such as default mode, semantic, and cerebral-cerebellum.
