Minimal Sampling Design using Bayesian Optimization Toward High-speed BRDF Acquisition

(in English) This paper focuses on BRDF that is a form of material surface characteristics. As a conventional work toward high-speed sensing, there is a method estimating BRDF model parameters from a few samplings based on algebraic solution without using non-linear optimization. Although the concept of this method is effective to speed up the BRDF acquisition, the accuracy highly depends on which samplings are used for the estimation. Based on this background, in this paper, we propose a method optimizing the sampling about the viewing and lighting directions by utilizing the Bayesian Optimization.
