1ch Acoustic Distance Measurement Method Based on Phase Interference Between Transmitted and Reflected Waves Using Particle Swarm Optimization

(in English) The distance to a target is basic information in many engineering fields. As the distance estimation using acoustic signals, TOF (Time of Flight) which estimates the distance by time lag between transmitted and reflected waves is generally used. However, this method cannot estimate the close range where the reflected wave is buried in the transmitted wave. We have applied the technique of field of microwave and have proposed the acoustic distance measurement (ADM) method based on phase interference between transmitted and reflected waves. This method is given in a very simple form, only applying Fourier transform to the power spectrum of observed signal. However, there are tasks that are needed to apply the twice Fourier transform and are needed to adopt the transmitted signal with broader band in frequency region to improve accuracy of estimation. On the other hand, recently, from viewpoints of simplicity and flexibility for the algorithm, particle swarm optimization (PSO) method, one of the meta-heuristics, is focused on. In this paper, We apply the PSO to the power spectrum of observed signal and propose the ADM method based on phase interference using PSO.
