In order to improve an efficiency of radio placement design of ETC (electoronic toll collection) system using radio propagation simulator, we evaluated a method to generate 3D model automatically from point cloud obtained from MMS (mobile mapping system), and then use these models for radio propagation simulation. First, we show generated polygon models using ball pivoting algorithm and Poisson surface reconstruction from point cloud measured by MMS. When ball pivoting is used, isolated edges, edges shares more than 3 polygons, and intersection of polygons are generated, which can not exist in the real world. On the other hand, when we use the Poisson algorithm, the above modeling errors decrease, but another modeling error of expansion of shapes arises. Next, we evaluate estimation accuracy of radio propagation simulation when above 3D models are used. The calcuration error was 5.9 dB for ball pivoting and 5.8 dB for Poisson surface reconstruction. Therefore, we represent the both models generate same estimation error. |
