Facing the rising need for face authentication systems on a mobile phone, developing technologies to prevent spoofing attacks is an imminent issue. Although face 3D structure estimation based on an infrared camera or a stereo camera is known to be effective at detecting spoofing attacks, the hardware requirement limits the application of the technology. Thus we developed an algorithm that entirely based on a monocular, visible light camera. The proposed method requires to take two photos, from which feature vectors are calculated within (i) face region where flash light diffuse, and (ii) eye region where flash light show specular reflection. We built a binary classifier based on Support Vector Machine (SVM) to detect spoofing attack with equal error rate (EER) of 0.59%.vvv |
