Applications of the Segmented Coplanar Waveguide for On-body Links

(in English) Transmission characteristic improvement for links on body at 2.45 GHz by the segmented coplanar waveguide (SCPW) proposed in [1] is presented in this paper. SCPW consists of some basic units which function as band-pass filters connected in series, has extremely high flexibility by applying coplanar waveguide structure and using paper substrate and silver ink. The transmission improvement between two square patch antennas is calculated on PEC plane in both simulation and measurement, and is verified on phantom more than 20 dB for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) path. The specific absorption rate (SAR) of SCPW for human safety is also calculated in detail.
