[Poster Presentation] Active device detection for wavelet-based multicarrier grant-free transmissions

(in English) We investigate the problem of active device detection in grant-free multicarrier transmissions based on wavelet packet modulation (WPM). In particular, each subcarrier is assigned to a device that is not always active, as is common for machine-type communications (MTC). Detection of active devices is based on energy detection. Unlike for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the subspace structure of WPM allows the use of group testing in which energy detection is applied to a group of devices instead of a single device in each step. Simulation results on the number of energy detection steps indicate that group testing can help reduce the computational complexity in active device detection when active probabilities are low.
