Mutual Coupling Reduction in Closely-spaced MIMO Antenna with Compact EBG Structure ○Dazhi Piao・Hao Zhou(Comm. Univ. of China) |

A compact electromagnetic band gap (EBG) unit of 0.032 λ0 ? 0.032 λ0 (λ0 is the free-space wavelength at 2.4 GHz) for isolation enhancement of closely-spaced MIMO antenna is proposed. A dual-port MIMO antenna with element spacing of 0.5 λ0 designed. It is verified that by inserting only one column of the EBG between the antenna elements, a significant mutual coupling reduction over 10 dB can be achieved. The effects of the addition of EBG on the antenna?s performance of S-parameters and radiation patterns are also investigated. The measured and simulated results agree well. |
