Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We are promoting the ultra high-density distributed antenna systems toward the realization of high-capacity technologies for 5G mobile system, where transmission points (TPs) are densely deployed at hotspots and they are orchestrated through the centralized baseband unit. We have shown the effectiveness of our proposed system through computer simulations and experiments. In addition, we are also targeting to realize the flexible system, which can be configured by collocated antenna deployment and also by distributed antenna deployment. In terms of cell design, the deployment of TPs may be limited due to the scenery and layout of room. In this case, it is expected that the throughput is improved by distributing antennas because the channel is line-of-sight (LOS) with a high probability. In this report, as a pre-study before the experiment, we evaluate the performance by the computer simulation utilizing the 3D propagation model which emulates an indoor hotspot. The result shows that distributed antenna deployment can improve the cell-edge throughput compared with collocated antenna deployment, and mitigate the impact of TP deployment. In addition, the result also shows that, when the area where TPs can be deployed is limited, the throughput can be significantly improved by deploying TPs to make at least a channel of TP LOS with a high probability.
