The number of 15-year-old students who enjoy learning science and technology is decreasing, and it is necessary to train scientists and engineers at an early stage. We provide elementary and junior high school students with a wireless communication technology experience so that they can feel familiarity with science and technology. However, the wireless LAN access point (AP) to use is inhuman, not a design that is familiar to the testees. This paper proposes a method to change the appearance by covering the AP with a stuffed toy with the aim of improving the affinity for the technical experience to the AP. In the technical experience, we asked the testees to experience two ways: the way of applying this method and the way of not applying it, then based on the motion impression model of the communication robot, we conducted a questionnaire survey to see what kind of impression it would receive. As a result, positive evaluations for familiarity increased by up to about 64 %, while negative evaluations decreased by up to about 40 %. These results confirmed that the change in appearance is effective for improving affinity even for inorganic objects without movement. |
