A BLE-based Recommendation Method of Elevators by Estimating Waiting Time of the Elevators

(in English) When moving in a building, we have experienced that selecting the
elevator nearest from the current position sometimes takes a
longer waiting time than selecting other elevators distantly positioned.
Since waiting time of an elevator affects the moving time in a
building, if we can recommend an elevator with shorter waiting
time, our moving time will decrease. In this paper, we
propose an elevator recommendation method using a beacon
detection function (BDF). The BDF enables us to know on which
floor or how long an elevator stopped and to estimate waiting
time or future behavior of the elevator. In order to evaluate our
proposed method, we conducted simulations considering the real
environment of an building in Ito Campus. The simulation results
show that our method can reduce the moving time compared to a method
selecting the elevator nearest from the current position.
