A Study on Single-Carrier Frequency Domain Pre-Equalization for Uplink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access

(in English) In this paper, we evaluate the link-level performances applying frequency domain pre-equalization (Pre-FDE) for the uplink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with single carrier frequency division multiplexing (SC-FDM) based signaling. We have been studying the link-level performances in the case where FDE is applied on the base-station (BS) for SC-FDM NOMA assumed to be multiplexing two user equipments (UE) in the power domain. In this case, multiple access interference (MAI) is frequently occurred at the BS because each signal from UE passes through the independent frequency selective fading channel. The MAI has a serious effect on the bit error rate (BER) performance.
In order to avoid the occurrence of the MAI, we propose Pre-FDE for the uplink SC-FDM NOMA. The results show that the BER performances for both UEs are greatly improved by applying Pre-FDE. Furthermore, we clarified that low BER can be realized when the moving speed of each UE is less than walking speed in an environment that takes hard time-frequency selective fading into account.
