A Study on Current-source/Voltage-source Dual-Mode Non-isolated Class-E2 DC-DC Converter with Pulse-Density-Modulation

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) GaN-HFET class-E power conversion technology is suitable for high frequency power conversion in the MHz band. The pulse density modulation,(PDM) is suitable for a power control strategy of class-E inverter and rectifier converter,(class-E2 converter). However, surge current appears at the transition from power-off to power-on modes, which leads to significant efficiency drop. As a solution for the technical issue, a natural oscillation-assisted PDM is originally developed in the paper. The operation of the proposed PDM-based class-E2 converter is investigated by simulation, after which the effectiveness is evaluated from the view point of efficiency under the $rm{2,MHz}$ high-frequency switching.
