A VOT Control for Improving THD of Sensor-less Boundary Conduction Mode PFC Converter

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper presents an optimized variable on-time (VOT) control for improving the input current THD of sensor-less boundary conduction mode PFC converter. Varies of VOT control methods have been proposed to improve the input current THD. However, most of the proposed VOT equations are too complex to be applied to predictive control. In order to apply the VOT control to predictive control, a simple VOT equation is derived. The derived VOT equation takes very short calculation time in DSP, hence it can be applied to the predictive control. Experimental results demonstrate that the input current THD is indeed improved by the proposed method.
