Development of Electromagnetically-Coupled Half-Wavelength Resonator Filter

(in English) In recent years, miniaturization and high performance of base station filters are regarded as important. In a filter, by forming attenuation poles in the vicinity of pass band, attenuation outside the pass band becomes steep and high selectivity is obtained. As a result, it is possible to create a filter having equivalent performance with a smaller number of stages. Thus, filter can be miniaturized. This time, we investigated a filter that generates multiple attenuation poles using a coupled-line half-wavelength resonator. Conventional filters often form attenuation poles by cross-coupling, but this filter creates attenuation poles by utilizing electromagnetic coupling between resonators. In this report, the design method of electromagnetically-coupled half-wavelength resonator filter is explained, and the design examples and the prototype filters with concrete filter specifications are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of this filter.
