Metric-Combining Multiuser Detection with RTS and eCTS for Ultra Reliable and Low Latency Wireless Communications

(in English) This report proposes the multiuser detection (MUD) employing RTS and enhanced CTS (eCTS) for Internet of Things (IoT) services of which transmission delay time is strictly limited. Unlicensed band wireless communications employing CSMA/CA suffer from longer transmission delay time as the number of user terminals (UTs) increases, because packet collisions are more likely to occur. As a conventional scheme to separate collided packets, the metric-combining MUD (MC-MUD) has been proposed in OFDMA systems. MC-MUD calculates the metric for packets, which is defined as the squared Euclid distance between the received signal and its replica. Upon the basis of the maximum likelihood detection, MC-MUD combines the metric of a retransmitted packet with that of a previously transmitted packet. However, the corresponding UTs should simultaneously retransmit the same packets, so as to reduce computational complexity of MC-MUD. Since UTs are not centrally controlled, such a packet collision is not likely to occur. In order to cope with this problem, the report proposes a transmission scheme to realize the same packet collision for MC-MUD. In the proposed scheme, one UT that suffers from the packet collision transmits RTS before the retransmission. Then, the corresponding access point (AP) transmits eCTS including the addresses of the other UTs, which have experienced the same packet collision. The other UTs, which receive the eCTS, transmit the same packets immediately in order to achieve the same packet collision again. Computer simulations evaluate a CNR range under which the proposed scheme is effective, and transmission delay time of the proposed scheme.
