Continuous electroencephalographic (continuous EEG, cEEG) records provides a significant information in the clinical diagnosis of brain dysfunction in intensive care unit (ICU). Periodic discharges (PDs) and Spike–and-Wave (SW) are typical abnormal waveforms appeared in cEEG in the ICU. We have been developing an automatic system for inspecting abnormal EEGs in the ICU. This paper describes a method for interpreting the integrative characteristics of recorded cEEG. Topographical distribution, EEG pattern, amplitude and Sharpness wave taken into account in the automatic system. Results were verified by comparing one’s by expert electroencephalographers (EEGers) for 10 cEEG records. |
