This paper proposes a novel radial line helical phased array. In the proposed antenna, antenna elements are individually rotated by motors to achieve dynamic beam scanning and beam forming. An 168-element radial line helical phased array is designed by a method combining equivalent circuit analysis and electromagnetic simulation.
The designed antenna has a bandwidth of 8% for |S11| < −20 dB within a beam scanning coverage ±20 deg.. The antenna gain in the boresight direction at the center frequency is 30.5 dBi with antenna efficiency of 82%. |
