This paper reports the investigation results of MmWave Access Points (MAPs) deployment method in order to provide exceeding 1 Gbps link throughput to the passengers sitting in the passenger car of a high speed train. In the case of mmWave, attention should be paid to the propagation characteristics of mmWave band as well as the condition changes inside the passenger car (such as the static allocation of passenger seats and the type of passenger car, and the dynamic change of the luggage on the luggage rack.), therefore MAPs allocation methods that are different to that of the traditional Wi-Fi should be considered. Up till now we have carried out Raytracing simulation for various MAPs allocation patterns and a variety of passenger usage scenarios. And we have carried out experiments using WiGig APs in a real vehicle taking consideration of the occupancy rate of passengers and allocation of luggage for two types of MAPs allocation patterns that can provide relatively higher link throughput according the results of the Ray-tracing simulation. The experiment results confirm that the MAPs allocation pattern with the MAPs attached to the ceiling at the center of the vehicular width along the aisle is possible to achieve Gbps level link throughput at almost all seats regardless of the posture of the passengers and luggage distribution. We also discussed the difference of link throughput between the Ray-tracing simulation and the experimental results in order to make efficient use of the MAPs allocation methods. |
