Flat Beam Forming Method by Synthesizing Chebyshev Patterns

(in English) In microwave power transfer, it is desirable to design a flat beam to achieve high efficiency of rectifiers when we use a rectenna array. However, the beam efficiency between the transmitting antenna and receiving antenna become lower when using a Flat beam than a pencil beam due to the decline of the gain by increasing the beam width. This report describes a flat beam forming method by synthesizing Chebyshev patterns in order to design a flat beam with the narrowest beam width in a certain side lobe level. The calculation result shows that our proposed method provides a flat beam whose all side lobes are almost equal. This shows the beam width of the designed beam has a value close to the smallest beam width.
