| (in English) | Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) is a technique used in a special mode of e-book viewers. RSVP presents segments of sentences by switching at a high speed rate at a fixed location and often used for movie subtitles. In the RSVP, it is known that the probability of overlooking characters, occurrence of attentional blink, increases as the amount of the character "feature" increases. Recent research indicate that the attentional blink can be suppressed by auditory stimulation based on psychological experiments. In this research, we propose an RSVP e-book viewer that suppresses attentional blink during reading by giving auditory stimulation. We verified effect from the viewpoint of reading speed and comfort. Four subjects, it was confirmed that RSVP with auditory stimulation in all subjects improved the reading speed by about 20% at the maximum and about 4% at the minimum as compared without auditory stimulation. In addition, it was expected that the amount of information increased by applying auditory stimulation, and the amount of information to be processed increased. Accompanied by, we expected that the feeling of fatigue was increase. However, the results showed that RSVP with auditory stimulus was lower in feeling of fatigue than without auditory stimulation, by interview survey. | |
