Range Resolution Characteristics of Synthetic Bandwidth Radar Using Signal Subspace Estimation

(in English) This paper discusses range resolution characteristics of a synthetic bandwidth method for high range resolution radars which employ linear frequency modulation signals in multiple frequency bands for time-of-arrival estimation. The method can improve range accuracy and resolution. It is, however, necessary to use unequally-spaced frequency bands for avoiding degradation of range resolution at regular range separation. Range resolution of the method using unequally-spaced frequency bands is analyzed and an example of optimized frequency band arrangement is shown.
