Studies in cognitive science have shown that collaborative learning based on different perspectives facilitates better interaction. On the other hand, studies in CSCL(Computer-Supported Collaborative leaning) has attempted to develop learning support systems based on these studies. Taking in these considerations the present study investigated learning performance and different perspectives through collaborative learning using concept
maps which can let learners see others’ knowledge and working. We predicted that using this system enables externalization of collaborative partner’s different knowledge(perspective). From our preliminary experiment, results show that learners who used the task were able to (1) gain understanding performance, (2) obtain more sophisticated use of different type of knowledge(utterances) throughout interaction. However, it was unclear what kind of conversations were related with these results, therefore it is necessary to further conduct dialogue analysis. Also,
our future research plan is to develop conversational agents based on these implications. |
