[Poster Presentation] Electric field distribution and polarization characteristics of higher order modes propagating through elliptic core optical fiber

(in English) In mode division multiplex communication, when using a planar lightwave circuit for mode separation, it is desirable to freely rotate the electric field distribution at the output end while maintaining the polarization plane at the input end. Therefore, by using an elliptic core optical fiber in which the beat length of polarization is longer than the beat length of electric field distribution, the state of electric field distribution and polarization at the input end and the output end is confirmed by simulation. When the electric field distribution and polarization direction are set in an elliptical core optical fiber whose length is half the beat length and the LP11 mode is made incident, only the electric field distribution is rotated at the emission end, and the polarization direction hardly changes.
