STAMP/STPA Analysis of Train Approach Warning System and Safety 2.0 Satoru Kitamura, Koji Sugiura, Takashi Kawano (JR East) SSS2019-11 |

JR East has introduced a train approach warning system using GPS. The safety analysis of this system was conducted by combining the conventional FTA method with the STAMP/STPA method advocated by Prof. Leveson of MIT and said to be effective for safety analysis and safety design of software-intensive complex systems.
In addition, we examined improvement plan of GPS Train Approach Warning System aiming at realization of collaborative safety advocated as Safety 2.0. As a result, we showed that the division of roles in each system has changed from the previous one, and that the system could realize a higher level of safety. |
