Estimation of Radiated Electric Field from Wire Harness above Metal Plane Using Equivalent Antenna Method

(in English) In recent years, as the increase of electronic devices installed in automobiles, the number of wire harnesses to be connected has also increased. Electromagnetic radiation noise generated from the common mode current flowing in the wire harness causes malfunction of the on-vehicle electronic equipment. For this reason, the prediction of the radiation field from the wire harness is required from the viewpoint of EMC design.In this study, we apply the concept of equivalent antenna.by applying the concept of equivalent antenna, we regarded the wire harness placed on the metal plate as an asymmetric dipole antenna and its electrical image. Through the measurement of the common mode current on the wire harness at a fixed location, we estimated the current distribution of the equivalent antenna from the measurement result. Furthermore, based on the estimation results of common mode currents, we estimated the radiation electric field from the wire harness placed on the metal plane by considering the equivalent antennas as many small dipoles and verified its effectiveness by computer simulation and experiment.
