Microwave resonant power transmission using open-ring resonators is reported. The open-ring resonator is a ring-shaped λ / 2 resonator made by planar circuit technology. By overlapping the two resonators with opposite direction, a strong coupling is obtained by combining electric and magnetic field couplings. The principle can be applied from MHz band to millimeter waves regardless of the frequency. We made rings for 920MHz band to transmit power to drones, AGVs and EVs where cm-order transmissions are required. The rings were made of aluminum plate with a diameter of about 75 mm. Transmission efficiency of 93.5% was obtained at a distance of 40 mm between the rings. |
