How do different stimulus properties in multiple attentional foci affect pupillary response?

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It has been shown that pupil is smaller when people attend to bright stimulus compared to dark stimulus. People can split their attention into two discrete foci. Here we aim to examine how pupil responds when both bright and dark stimuli are attended to simultaneously. A bright disk and a dark disk were presented around a fixation dot and attentional state was manipulated. There were three conditions of attentional state: attending to the bright disk, the dark disk and both disks. Results showed that pupillary response elicited by divided attention (attending to both stimuli) was comparable with that elicited by attending to only dark stimulus.
