An intermittent reception method of disaster and crisis management report broadcasted from quazi-zenith satellites Michibiki
Satoshi Takahashi (Hiroshima City Univ.) CS2019-62
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The quasi-zenith satellite "Michibiki" not only broadcasts positioning signals in the same format as GPS, but also broadcasts augmentation signals that improve positioning accuracy. The message signals also convey information about disasters and crises information. When a disaster occurs, the disaster and crisis report is broadcast once every 4 seconds, so the user can receive intermittently. However, it is hard to apply the intermittent reception in normal situations, because it is not possible for the receivers to know when this disaster and crisis report will be broadcast. In this report, the characteristic of ``null message'' the satellites broadcast during normal situation is considered and the intermittent reception method is proposed.
