A consideration on a circularly-polarized beam-adjustable microstrip antenna array with variable reactance elements

(in English) This paper presents circularly-polarized beam adjustable microstrip antenna arrays (BA-MSAAs). The BA-MSAA consists of a microstrip antenna (MSA) and two parasitic MSAs with a variable reactance circuit (VRC) arranged at the both sides. The radiation pattern of the BA-MSAA can be controlled by a reactance of the VRCs. Firstly, in order to miniaturize the BA-MSAA as well as to improve the beam-shaping performance, a circularly-polarized BA-MSAA with ring-shaped MSAs fed by an L-probe is proposed. Furthermore, in order to enhance the axial-ratio of the circularly-polarized BA-MSAA, a circularly-polarized BA-MSAA with a variable reactance at the diagonal line in the center element is proposed. The performances of the proposed BA-MSAAs are exhibited by simulation and measurement.
