We previously proposed a time-domain symbol spreading (TSS) which can expand the operational region of the blind adaptive array (BAA) interference suppression irrespective to the array input signal-to-interference power ratio (SIR). Independent component analysis (ICA) and constant modulus algorithm (CMA) are interest of BAA algorithms which show superior interference suppression performance. TSS is applied to the transmission signal for the desired user and then de-spreads the received signal. It results in gaussianizing the interference signal and can bring beneficial effects reducing the kurtosis as well as to collapse the constancy. Such intentional modification to the interference signals can improve the capture performance of the desired signal and realizes effective interference suppression even when SIR $<$ 0 dB. However, interference suppression characteristics of BAA with TSS is limited when the numbers of signal sources and reception antenna elements are large. This paper presents its detailed characteristics and improves the array output SINR by introducing principal component analysis (PCA) which degenerates the number of effective array inputs. |
