[Invited Lecture] A Study of Live HTTP Streaming Video Distribution with Multicast Overlay Transmission

(in English) In recent years, video streaming services using the HTTP streaming method have become widespread. HTTP streaming supports both VoD-type and live-type distribution, but in live-type distribution, traffic tends to burst, and server and network load must be reduced and optimized. In this report, we propose a method for overlay transmission of live HTTP streaming video over a multicast network. In addition, the traffic reduction effect was studied based on the case when all content data can be cached and the case of the Zipf distribution when it cannot be cached. We also report the results of evaluating the implemented sequence and the stack for multicast packets, and the implemented system in an environment with a 30Mbps video stream and 16 viewing terminals.
