Individuals with complex communication needs, including aphasic patients, often use communication aids, such as gestures, hand drawings, and pictorial symbols, in their conversation. The active participation on the part of the communication partner is often required to achieve successful communication. Experienced partners may pay special attention to using their eye gaze effectively in their conversation. We have conducted preliminary research on eye gaze analysis in promoting aphasics communicative effectiveness (PASE) training. An individual with severe Broca's aphasia and her husband participated in our case study. In this paper, characteristics of communication partner's eye gaze were explored. |
