Statistical method of estimating the date when school lunch caused mass food poisoning was supplied

(in English) We focus on estimating the date when school lunch caused mass food poisoning was supplied. In the literature, a log-normal distribution has been widely used for this statistical inference problem. However, in this study, we unveil the potential of using an inverse Gaussian distribution. In particular, we show the physical meaning of each distribution parameter of the inverse Gaussian distribution, and utilize their meanings to assume the prior distribution for Bayes inference, which contributes to the early-stage parameter estimation of the critical date of food poisoning. We show several data analyses with the collected datasets.
