Difference of edge wave generation amount for each medium and evaluation of attenuation
Yuusuke Tanaka, Akira Abe, Yukio Ogura (Japan Probe) US2019-96
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Edge waves generated during propagation of ultrasonic waves are related to the spread of the ultrasonic waves, amplitude fluctuation, directivity, etc., but the amount of generation has not been evaluated. We investigated that the amount of edge waves generated differs depending on the medium, and confirmed that polystyrene and water generated a large amount, and air generated a small amount of edge waves. In order to consider the effect of attenuation, the attenuation of each material, excluding diffusion, was evaluated. It was found that water and air had less attenuation than polystyrene. In consideration of the fact that the attenuation of air is said to be large, it was considered that this was caused by diffusion due to flexural vibration. The flexural vibration type aerial ultrasonic probe has a large diffusion, and the ultrasonic wave attenuated immediately.
