Basic Study of Patch Antenna with Class-F Load Impedance for 2.45 GHz Microwave Power Transfer

(in English) A novel patch antenna with class-F load function for microwave power transfer is proposed. Conventionally, class-F load has been implemented in power amplifier. The proposed antenna enables us to directly connect a power device to the antenna, which realizes reduction of size and loss in circuit. In this report, 2.45GHz patch antenna with an open impedance for 3rd harmonic wave is designed. Short pins are set on patch element, which is optimized to realize impedance matching for fundamental frequency and open impedance for 3rd harmonic wave. Numerical simulation demonstrates that this antenna realized reflection coefficient for fundamental wave of –21dB, for 3rd harmonic wave of –1.2dB, and gain of 4.95dBi. Experiments verified that reflection coefficient for fundamental wave of –14dB, for 3rd harmonic wave of –0.8dB.
