Drum Performance Evaluation Method Using Body Motion and Performance Information
Yasuhiro Imada, Youji Ochi, Nobukazu Iguchi (Kindai Univ.) ET2019-70
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In drum performance, it is necessary for a learner to acquire suitable performance techniques and use them efficiently in order to perform a drum stably. In this research, we have developed a drum learning support system that can evaluate performance objectively by using the information from various sensors. In this paper, we describe the performance evaluation method in the learning support system. Especially, the evaluation method focuses on the relationship between the learner's rhythm of performance and her/his arm movement. This method uses learner's beat intervals as rhythmic feature quantities and the bending widths of the arm joint angles as body motion feature quantities. The prototype system can detect the tendency of rhythm changes to increase with body motion.
