A Method for Correlating an Aircraft Trajectory with Flight Plan Information for Estimating an Air Traffic Control Difficulty Value

(in English) Recent modernization of air traffic management systems promotes aviation towards trajectory based operations and performance based operations. These shifts require the performance indices such as safety, efficiency, complexity etc. The authors have proposed an index for evaluating air traffic control (ATC) difficulty. This index is calculated using the relative positions and velocities of aircraft as inputs, but it is necessary to know the future flight paths. For this purpose, we need to correlate the current aircraft position with the trajectory change points (TCP) where aircraft changes their headings. A geometrical method for determination criteria is examined. This paper describes the algorithm necessary for correlating the aircraft position and the TCP to which aircraft directs. This paper briefly describes this method and the results of the study.
