[Invited Lecture] Analysis of low elevation GPS signal propagation using parabolic equation considered sea surface impedance in tropospheric ducting

(in English) On developing a robust wireless system and a highly efficient radar system on a ship, it is important to estimate the atmospheric condition to understand the electromagnetic wave propagation. Recently many studies have been conducted on the estimation of the condition using low elevation angle GPS signal. In this paper, we show how the path loss profile of the signal depends on the strength of tropospheric ducting using the parabolic equation modeling considered the sea surface impedance. On the ducting condition of 30m from the surface, the averaged path loss decreased by 0.5dB per 1km compared on the standard atmospheric condition.
