Fiber-optic Fabry-Perot sensor using MT connectors for measuring refractive index of aqueous solutions

(in English) We propose an optical fiber sensor for measuring the refractive index of aqueous solutions. The proposed sensor is based on the Fabry-Perot interferometer. Mechanically transferable (MT)-connectors and a feeler gauge (thickness gauge tape) are employed for the sensor. The return loss of the sensor in aqueous solutions of ethanol were measured over a wide wavelength range. These results demonstrate that the refractive index of various aqueous solutions can be obtained easily and effectively.
