We propose an optical fiber sensor for measuring the refractive index of aqueous solutions. The proposed sensor is based on the Fabry-Perot interferometer. Mechanically transferable (MT)-connectors and a feeler gauge (thickness gauge tape) are employed for the sensor. The return loss of the sensor in aqueous solutions of ethanol were measured over a wide wavelength range. These results demonstrate that the refractive index of various aqueous solutions can be obtained easily and effectively. |
