Biometrics has been used in various scenes such as smartphones and airports. Biometrics has advantages and disadvantages for each type of biometric features used. Faces and fingerprints, which are widely used at present, can be presented quickly at the time of authentication, so there is the advantage that the burden on the user is small. On the other hand, there is a disadvantage that it is easy to forge because it is exposed on the surface. For this reason, when using biometrics in situations where safety must be emphasized rather than convenience, such as when entering an important institution or opening a safe, there is a need to use a biometric feature that is not easily stolen by a third party. To solve this problem, authentication using heartbeat has been proposed. Heartbeats have the advantage that they are more difficult to falsify than faces and fingerprints. In previous studies, methods using electrocardiograms and visible cameras have been proposed. However, the method using electrocardiogram has a heavy burden on the user because it is a contact type, and the method using a visible camera has the disadvantage that it is easily affected by lighting environment and skin color. Therefore, the authors are studying a method of acquiring a heartbeat from a temperature change on the face surface that changes with blood flow using thermography. |
