A method of audio signal processing for adding healing effect to music
Yuga Yamada, Kaoru Arakawa (Meiji.Univ.) SIS2019-56
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Healing music is a general term of music that can relax people by listening. Some healing music on the market is produced by arranging ordinary music such as J-POP to become soft and calm, but such arrangement is not easy for people without specialized music knowledge. In this paper, a method of audio signal processing is proposed to create healing music easily by giving healing effect to existing ordinary music. This method is composed of three parts, one is changing the number of beats per minute (BPM), one is changing the frequency characteristics, and the other is reducing the number of sounds. The healing effect of the proposed method is verified by experiments on several people using questionnaire and EEG analysis. Especially, EEG analysis revealed that healing effects can be definitely obtained by reducing BPM and changing the frequency characteristics.
