Experimental results of soft error effect on a network equipment with error collection and detection function
Mizuki Tateno, Kousuke Watanabe (NTT) NS2019-251
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Due to the integration and miniaturization of semiconductor devices in compact and high performance communication devices, there are issues of dealing with soft errors caused by neutrons derived from cosmic rays. To cope with these issues, evaluation and mythologies for soft error was standardized in ITU-T Recommendations. In this report, we performed soft error tests on communication equipment with an error correction / detection function, and evaluated the result based on the ITU-T Recommendations for soft error. In this test, it was confirmed that the error correction / detection function improved the Maintenance Reliability, Service Reliability and Alert function Reliability.
